About the Company

Around the third or fourth decade of the 20th. Century, brothers Valerio and Manuel González Canseco founded a trade company that practically dominated the southern tip of the Baja California Sur peninsula. Their vision and common interests gained made them become prominent and very well accepted in every sector of the Southern Californian society in that time. During World War II their business grew mainly trading agricultural, cattle and fishing products in the Mexico City and Los Angeles markets. Markets in the U.S. and some Eastern countries imported some of their products, bought basically in San Jose del Cabo and La Paz.

The early death of Don Valerio in 1965 split his heritage, but Don Manuel, recognized as the Father of both families until his death in 1980, supported along with both families the development of the Tourist Corridor of Los Cabos, a streak of beaches, dunes and hills of extraordinary beauty and placidity situated between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, currently communicated by a four-lane highway. In this space several spectacular resorts have been developed for the attention of national and foreign tourists.

One of the pioneer companies founded for this purpose is Callimaya Real Estate, with the participation of González Aragón and Corral González families, along with the Balsley brothers (the word “Callimaya” comes from the Otomi language, meaning “place where the houses are built”. There’s a prehispanic village to the west of Toluca in th State of Mexico that goes by this name).

One of the first projects in 1987 finished “Rancho Cerro Colorado” located in km. 24.8 of the Corridor, hosting Condos, Homes and Commercial spaces. The natural beauty of the entire Baja California Peninsula is nearly indescribable and Rancho Cerro Colorado is one of it’s purest expressions.

It’s singular topography and the unique combination of desert/sea/mountain landscapes surprises and touches with it’s changing scenarios even the most experienced and discriminating visitors. Somebody said the “Baja” is a blessed land that charms everyone and it’s never the same, but it’s always surprising and touching.

Callimaya Real Estate has also contributed with other developments, among of which we may list: Castillos de Arena in Boca del Salado, owned by Mr. Clark and Mr. Brown; and Cabo Vinorama, featuring 152 lots including 23 beachfront lots, all over a 52 hectare area with 630 meters of beach.
